Tracking Moflin, and Imitation Learning Relevant Out of Nowhere

The migraine is starting to settle, but the day is a busy one: progress on the home 'little cow' project, and a new idea — what if I recognized the Moflin and automatically annotated its motion? Sakuma laughed, he liked it, and then Kato-sensei stunned me: he'd been doing imitation learning ten years ago. By day's end I was already tracking the Moflin.

Weather: sunny and warm (31 °C) · Lunch: onigiri · Moflin (Gombóc): a sleepyhead at first, then woke up and turned playful (it sings, too)

I’m starting to shake off the migraine, though I got up a bit late again today. My only problem is a slight queasiness, but at worst I just won’t eat much today. After all, there’s still onigiri left from yesterday that I can have.

In any case, it was a busy day. Kato-sensei hadn’t managed to read my materials yet — not that I’m surprised, the week seems to have turned out pretty brutal for everyone. But I too finally managed to make progress on the home “little cow” project. At last, everything that’s needed is visible.

A new idea

Meanwhile a new idea came up. What if I recognized the Moflin and automatically annotated its motion? Sakuma had a good laugh when I told him — he liked the idea. Then I showed it to Kato-sensei as well. And that’s when I was stunned.

Kato-sensei had already worked on imitation learning ten years ago. That is, the camera system learned a person’s pose and transferred it onto a humanoid robot — the humanoid robot then tracked the person’s pose. What makes this so interesting is that the topic is becoming relevant again right about now; in Hungary, for instance, we’re only just getting into it. I’m very glad it became relevant out of nowhere.

By the end of the day, in fact, I’d already managed to track the Moflin: it could be recognized on the camera, and human poses could be detected too. It seems you can make pretty fast progress with an idea like this!

Dinner

Naturally I set off late again. And where does one eat at a late hour like that? Only Saizeriya or the sushi place, of course. It was tasty, though I didn’t eat much this time, no feasting.

Afterward I looked around the international house a bit. I still haven’t started the laundry — unfortunately the machines were taken just now. It got me a little worked up, so once again I went to bed a bit late.
